Job Description

The Automation Engineer will be an integral part of the Advanced Process Development Team, within the engineering community. This person will be responsible and accountable for designing, developing, building and implementing automation, robotics and integrated systems in a high-volume aerospace manufacturing environment. The aim being to continue our improvement and modernization of our production processes with a view to increasing output while minimizing downtime and scrap.
The position will be working on new bespoke machinery as well as upgrading and supporting existing equipment on site.



Key Responsibilities

• To improve manufacturing performance with regard to process capability, output, productivity and cost
• To provide expert knowledge of manufacturing process automation and integration.
• To design, assemble and commission machinery and/or robotic cells for manufacturing a range of precision aerospace products
• To develop special processes as required to advance the pursuit of low cost/high precision manufacturing
• To provide expertise in supporting the business with regard to the MB Aerospace Manufacturing Systems, policies and procedures. This includes all planning documentation, routings etc
• To deliver manufacturing process documentation and training in line with business training standards
• To always maintain a clean and tidy operating environment through an active and practical approach to all 6S and HSE issues.

Job Requirements

• Qualifications:
Preferred: Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline with an interest in manufacturing
Minimum: HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline with relevant industrial experience
• Experience of automation design and implementation including electrical, mechanical, and programming disciplines
• Experience with PLC programming
• ABB or Fanuc robots and controls
• C# programming knowledge
• Machine control systems design
• Excellent ability to analyse and interpret large data sets and generate conclusions leading to robust technical solutions
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, prioritise under pressure and be self-motivating
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and ability to create documents, reports and briefing materials in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Description

MB Aerospace Newton Abbot manufactures specialist precision components predominantly for the aerospace industry. Complex in its operations with a Continuous Improvement philosophy it has achieved a significant and well-respected position in the marketplace with a number of manufacturing techniques that are unique to the business. It is looking to review its production processes with the aim of optimising its use of resources, striving for continuous improvement, reducing costs and identifying opportunities for growth.

The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be a key member of the Continuous Improvement team reporting to the Operations Director. This position will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing teams in value stream improvements, focusing on process reliability & capability to create flow and to ensure that customer demands are met on time in full and to the highest quality. The position will work closely with the teams throughout all the manufacturing and support areas of the Organisation to help promote a continuous improvement culture through a PDCA process.

This position sits in our Newton Abbot, UK facility and will report to the Operations Director.


Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate the rollout of value stream management
• Develop VS future state designs & CI approach through Implementation of site wide LEAN and CI methodologies
• Facilitate the roll out of visual management
• Support the rollout of PDCA management process
• Facilitate the rollout of process capability / stability on critical processes.
• Develop process ‘lockdown’ project and rollout with the team. Coach & support process management discipline & routine.
• Develop project plans for implementing improvement’s
• Support the ‘Primes’ for each area to drive a standard approach to Lean in their areas
• Analyses of quality data

Job Requirements

• Be expert in use and deployment of Lean tools, techniques and methods

• Work within, and lead, multi discipline and cross functional teams driving efficiency and productivity improvements to reduce the seven wastes

Job Description
To operate and inspect work from any of 3 or more machines (including at least one CNC operation) for the manufacture of turbine components.

Key Responsibilities
• Clean and load components in fixture using correct datum faces. Using appropriate SOPs and Company procedures Operate machine. When cycle complete, remove and inspect part.
Make appropriate adjustments to tooling, coolant flow etc. Liaise with Inspection to check first off before starting full batch run. Use hand tools to debur work.
• Visually Inspect components and measure to ensure compliance with specification. Use optical, manual, electronic, digital gauges and tooling as supplied. Calibrate and operate micro
PCRs (programmed measurement instruments) – in accordance with planning requirements. Carry out inspections on other operators’ work – especially those not qualified to inspect
own work .eg TR Stamp Training.
• Complete manual and PC based production records, recording components completed and identifying those not conforming to specification on “Non-conformance Notes”. Stamp “OK”
or enter into PLMC. Segregate non-conforming parts. Take completed batch to next operation.
• Assist with training within known competence.
• Maintain work area in clean and safe condition. Complete machine check sheets. Report any problems to cell Supervision, cell GDO and/or Maintenance (Q4).
• Maintain machines in a running condition by changing consumables as required. Eg cutters, grinding wheels and electrodes. (This excludes some operations on older machine types
specifically, radial Grinding, Blanchard and Isocut EDM which is of a higher skill level)
• Hand Polish to planning requirements
• Other duties as required compatible with this job and the employee’s individual skills at the direction of the supervisor/manager
• Engage with and promote in-cell standardisation – Health & Safety, 6S, SOPs, Daily Check Sheet, Front line asset care, Machine First Off, Date Calibration
• Book off work in accordance with all production and quality requirements.

Job Description
Primary Purpose
• Responsible for provision of administrative governance of the MBNA BMS.
• Lead the planning and delivery of multi-discipline, risk prioritised system audits of the MBNA BMS and its supply chain, ensuring the most appropriate audit team structure is identified to support the most effective outcomes.
• Focal point of engagement, for the purposes of audit planning, with customers and regulators for all external audits of the MBNA site.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in 6S activity and audits where required.

Job Requirements
• Minimum HNC Level or equivalent in a relevant Engineering / Technical discipline.
• Associate or Practitioner of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) or can demonstrate working towards it.
• ISO 9001/ AS9100 Lead Auditor required. ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Lead Auditor desired.
• Experience of FMEA, PPAP and AS13000 suite of aerospace standards desirable.

The Materials Engineer will provide materials advice and guidance on the machining and processing of products through inspection of production and test materials.
This position sits in our Newton Abbot, UK facility and will report to the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer (Product).


Key Responsibilities

• Undertake preparation, testing, and examination of metallurgical specimens. Analyse results, produce reports, and make appropriate recommendations in order to ensure metals and associated processes are fit for purpose. Examine faulty/defective materials/parts, to determine cause and make recommendations for rectification
• Maintain calibrations and records for laboratory and production equipment as required. Report any failure of calibrations, advise on any actions required, and undertake recalibration following rectification
• Raise submissions to out-source testing house(s) for mechanical properties and other testing not undertaken at MB Aerospace Newton Abbot site. Check and clear testing certification and material lots for production use/customer shipment
• Use materials knowledge to assess, advise on and approve appropriate methods of manufacture including placement of special processes within the manufacturing sequence. Assess and implement customer specifications
• Ensure that laboratory processes and procedures are robust, fit for purpose and all equipment and tools in use are well maintained and correctly calibrated. Regularly assess Laboratory functions for technical adequacy, report and make recommendations for improvements
• Support NADCAP, Third Party and Customer Audits in the laboratory by providing documentation and information when required
• Review material specifications, standards, and internal documentation to ensure processes meet customer and regulatory requirements
• Facilitate the collection and analysis of product quality data to help identify opportunities for improvement.


Job Requirements

• Minimum 2nd class degree or equivalent in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, or Metallurgy / consideration will be given to Scientific degrees (Physics/Chemistry) where appropriate experience can be demonstrated
• Metallurgical and materials testing and analysis experience in the Aerospace, Power Generation industry, Medical, Nuclear, or Automotive manufacturing or research and development

The role will provide on-site NDT Level 3 and ensure all regulatory and customer requirements are met in the Non-Destructive Testing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for the training and examination of NDT personnel, ensuring their continued competence to conduct required activities against the NDT certification schemes that the business is required to comply with
• Responsible for ensuring that that the appropriate NDT method is carried out and sequenced in the manufacturing operation
• Lead the business preparation for NADCAP and customer audits across the NDT function
• Responsible for the approval, authorisation and control of NDT processes to ensure the production of compliant products
• Act as process owner for NDT services. Ensure that NDT processes and procedures are robust, fit for purpose and all equipment and tools in use are well maintained and correctly calibrated. Regularly assess NDT functions for technical adequacy and implement improvements through inspections and structured audits

• Participate in and oversee the completion of corrective action management processes in relation to NDT and associated processes

• Certified NDT level 3
• At least 4 years proven experience at Level 2 in fluorescent penetration and magnetic particle inspection techniques or certified to accept products as part of Level 3 duties in the aerospace sector

Job Description
To ensure shipment of the correct products are delivered in line with customer requirement. Generating, monitoring and maintaining agreed schedules, working closely with all company departments to ensure that targets are met. Communicating directly to customer updating with regular progress reports.

This position sits in Newton Abbot, UK and will report to the Master Schedule & Supply Chain Manager

Key Responsibilities
• Maintains top level customer requirements to drive total manufacturing requirements.
• Analyzes customer requirements and creates level-load schedules (if applicable), which satisfy customer requirements and provides a smooth production flow through work centers.
• Creates/submits production schedule options to business unit managers for approval.
• Minimizes inventory levels by accurately managing customer requirements.
• Leads the process for sales order change management resulting from changes in quantity, design configuration, part number, Change in Design effectivity and schedule dates.
• Provides MRP oversight and is the SME for MRP related issues, training and accuracy.
• Working with Operations, leads slow moving WIP process to ensure WIP is flowing through production.
• Supports the Operations team through the analysis and creation of relevant reports.
• Works with Operations to monitor production output against customer requirements.
• Analyzes currents systems and submits proposals for implementing improvements if necessary.
• Using customer schedules, leads exception message reduction process to ensure system accuracy.
• Designs, modifies and develops high level business processes and improvements.
• Maintains a clean work environment (including assigned storage and cleaning duties) in full compliance with company standards, customer and government regulations.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of a business culture, which supports the Company's overall business objectives and goals, to include issues that involve “cost, quality, process, schedule and people”.
• Ensures the company's commitment to maintain a safe workplace and to protect the environment through the establishment and support of Company policy and adherence to various government regulations.
• Ensures adherence to applicable MB Aerospace internal, federal, state and local laws and regulations related to compliance and takes responsibility to ensure ongoing conformity with such rules and regulations

Job Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis Production and Operations Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• 5+ years’ experience in materials in a manufacturing environment.
• U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
• Experience with ERP systems, specifically SAP, as well as Microsoft Excel experience highly preferred.
• Experience with S&OP and MPS processes highly preferred.
• Experience in aerospace industry is preferred.
• American Production Inventory Control System (APICS) certification is preferred.
• Good interpersonal, organizational, analytical and communication skills.
• Well-organized, be able to multi-task and have a high level of attention to detail.
• Customer service driven, able to understand and support the business goals and objectives.
• Experience with Military/Government Contracts considered a plus.
• Must have a valid US Passport
