Job Description
The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible and accountable for providing technical engineering support and expertise for new product/process introduction programmes and implementing strategies for improving manufacturing process capability on current production operations.
This role will also be accountable for ensuring technical support in estimating and launching new programs (NPI) and measuring and improving existing programs within the business continuous improvement program.

Key Responsibilities

• To improve manufacturing performance with regard to process capability, output, productivity and cost.
• To provide expert knowledge of manufacturing processes including close tolerance machining, automation and test systems.
• To deliver robust manufacturing solutions for new product/components in line with the MB Aerospace NPI process to meet the required HS&E aspects, first time quality, installed capacity and cost.
• To provide expertise in supporting the business with regard to the MB Aerospace Manufacturing Systems, policies and procedures. This includes all planning documentation, routings etc.
• To support the business by providing expertise and driving quality systems including the management of statistical methods, problem solving techniques and continuous improvement.
• To deliver manufacturing process documentation and training in line with business training standards.
• Cost estimating on new opportunities.
• Develop capable processes and standard work within manufacturing engineering and manufacturing operations and ensure compliance.
• To maintain a clean and tidy operating environment at all times through an active and practical approach to all 6S and HSE issues.

Job Requirements

• Preferred: Qualified to degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline with an interest in manufacturing
• Minimum: HNC or equivalent in an engineering discipline with relevant industrial experience.
• Experience required in a high volume, high precision manufacturing environment.
• Current knowledge of aero engine industry standards and requirements.
• Excellent presentation, communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent ability to analyse and interpret large data sets and generate conclusions leading to robust technical solutions.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
• Ability to prioritise under pressure and be self-motivating.
• Ability to use technology effectively and efficiently to manage workload.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and ability to create documents, reports and briefing materials in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Must have a valid passport
• Must be able to travel up to 50% or as needed

Job Description
To operate and inspect work from any of 3 or more machines (including at least one CNC operation) for the manufacture of turbine components.

Key Responsibilities
• Clean and load components in fixture using correct datum faces. Using appropriate SOPs and Company procedures Operate machine. When cycle complete, remove and inspect part.
Make appropriate adjustments to tooling, coolant flow etc. Liaise with Inspection to check first off before starting full batch run. Use hand tools to debur work.
• Visually Inspect components and measure to ensure compliance with specification. Use optical, manual, electronic, digital gauges and tooling as supplied. Calibrate and operate micro
PCRs (programmed measurement instruments) – in accordance with planning requirements. Carry out inspections on other operators’ work – especially those not qualified to inspect
own work .eg TR Stamp Training.
• Complete manual and PC based production records, recording components completed and identifying those not conforming to specification on “Non-conformance Notes”. Stamp “OK”
or enter into PLMC. Segregate non-conforming parts. Take completed batch to next operation.
• Assist with training within known competence.
• Maintain work area in clean and safe condition. Complete machine check sheets. Report any problems to cell Supervision, cell GDO and/or Maintenance (Q4).
• Maintain machines in a running condition by changing consumables as required. Eg cutters, grinding wheels and electrodes. (This excludes some operations on older machine types
specifically, radial Grinding, Blanchard and Isocut EDM which is of a higher skill level)

Skills and Experience
• Competent numeracy skills
• Strong communication skills
• basic IT
• Ability to use measuring instruments e.g. Vernier gauges, micrometers and electronic gauges is desirable
• At least 6 months experience of working in a manufacturing/production environment

Qualifications and Certificates
• 5 GCSE's A-C Grade or Equivalent
• NVQ 1 - Mechanical Engineering.
• Relevant Safety Certificates – eg Grinding Wheel Certificate
• Manual handling training may be appropriate in some areas

*The main shift in which we run at MB Aerospace Newton Abbot is;
6:00am till 2:00pm (Monday to Thursday) 6:00am 13:00pm Friday (for 4 weeks) = 19% shift premium
2:00pm till 10:00pm (Monday to Thursday) (2:00pm - 9:00pm Friday (for 4 weeks) 19% shift premium
10:00pm - 6:00am (Monday to Thursday) 10:00pm - 5:00am Friday (for 4 weeks) = 30% shift premium

*£18,340.92 is the training rate once training and mid probation is completed this will rise to £20,561.13 with many opportunities for overtime remunerated at a higher rate with shift premiums*

SUMMARY:

Non-destructive testing using X Ray, FPI & Visual testing techniques on all product as required:


I. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Non destructive testing using Penetrant and Radiography
• Set-up & standardize equipment, process parts, interpret & evaluate for acceptance or rejection & document results.
• Conduct System Performance Checks/NDT Process Controls in accordance with the applicable process standard, investigating & correcting non-conformance.
• Provide the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees & Level 1 personnel.
• Basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing & inspection technology
• Generation of Work Instructions & NDT data cards for submission to the Responsible level III.
• Daily checks/calibrations as required to meet customer and 3rd party (NADCAP) requirements.
• Maintaining NDT records of all product processed through NDT department.
• Generating NDT reports where required by customer.
• Maintaining the NDT department to ensure we fully comply with customer and all other relevant accreditation body requirements.
• Purchase of all relevant consumables for the NDT department in a timely manner so as not to affect operations.
• Preparation and participation in audits - NADCAP, LRQA, Customer & Internal.
• Uses precision measuring instruments & gauging devices as required
• Interpret drawings, process sheets, work instructions and technical packs.
• Carry out first off, in-process and final inspections, ensuring that components and assemblies are correct to standard.
• Generation and maintenance of NCR system and paperwork as applicable
• Seek out, identify and participate in Continuous Improvement opportunities.
• Create and maintain a team focused work environment.
• Responsible for general housekeeping and cleanliness of working area.
• Support “Best Practices” to achieve company goals for safety, delivery, cost and quality.

• Previous experience in similar industry is preferable (Aerospace)
• Knowledge of AC7114 is an advantage
• Knowledge of chemicals for acid etch/pickling is an advantage.

Job Purpose
