The Role

Reporting to the Quality Manager, ensuring the business site KPI’s are executed as planned with regards to the key metrics that are influenced by the quality department. Scheduling your workload to ensure key tasks are completed such as FAIR’s, Internal Audits and Supplier Approvals.
Driving a pro-active positive culture through working as part of a team/cross functional team with all departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct internal audits in line with schedule to ensure compliance to customer and regulatory requirements and identify deficiencies/improvements.
• Identify all FAIR requirements and complete in line with schedule so as not to impact deliveries.
• Maintain supplier approvals through data base.
• Dealing with and resolving issues with purchased material documentation (C of C ‘s, FAIR’s etc).
• Raising of concessions for purchased raw material related to conformity to material specification (Non-dimensional)
• Completion of internal audits in line with schedule.
• All FAIR requirements identified, and FAIR’s completed with no disruption to scheduled deliveries.
• To ensure all sub-tier suppliers hold and maintain the appropriate approvals related to customer and regulatory requirements.
• Achievement of all objectives in PDP in the agreed timeframe.
• Compliance with Customer & Regulatory requirements with no major findings raised during external audits.

Job Requirements

• Time Served with 4+ years’ experience within a quality/engineering role.
• Requires in-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes.
• Constantly displays integrity and respect.
• Bases decisions on fact and adopts a disciplined approach.
• Must be self-motivated and possess facilitation skills to be used in a team setting.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, geometrical tolerances, and specifications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills (RCA).

As an Apprentice Engineer you will be developing a varied skill set focused around Manufacturing, specifically leading to a focus on maintenance.

The engineering apprenticeship includes inhouse training and is in partnership with Exeter College, who deliver the accredited training element of your qualification. You will be working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence) – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician apprenticeship standard. During the first 15 months of your engineering operative apprenticeship, you will spend 2 days a week at Exeter College in term time and 3 days per week in the workplace. You will have the opportunity to develop both your practical ‘hands on’ skills and theory-based knowledge of mechanical engineering.

The Role

To be trained to operate and inspect work from 3 or more machines for the manufacture of aero engine components.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and load components in fixture using correct datum faces
• When operating machines carry out work in line with appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company procedures
• When the machining cycle is complete, remove, clean, and inspect the part
• Maintain correct working order of the machine, by making appropriate adjustments to tooling and coolant flow as and when required
• Liaise with Inspection to check first off before starting full batch run
• Use appropriate hand tools to deburr work
• Visually Inspect and measure components to ensure compliance with specification
• Use optical, manual, electronic, digital gauges and tooling as supplied
• Calibrate and operate micro-PCRs (programmed measurement instruments) – in accordance with planning requirements
• Carry out inspections on other operators’ work – especially those not qualified to inspect their own work e.g., operators undergoing training
• Complete manual and PC based production records, recording components completed and identifying those not conforming to specification on “non-conformance notes”. Stamp “OK” or enter into the paperless manufacturing center (PLMC) Segregate non-conforming parts. Take completed batch to next operation
• Assist with training and mentoring of new team members, in line with individual competence
• Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition, report any problems to cell supervision, cell manufacturing support operative (MSO) and/or Maintenance
• Maintain machines in a running condition by changing consumables as required. e.g., cutters, grinding wheels and electrodes
• Hand finish components to planning requirements
• Demonstrate and promote in-cell standardisation by maintaining: health & safety, 6S, SOPs, daily check sheets, front line asset care, machine first off procedures and date calibration checks
• Book off work in accordance with all production and quality requirements.

Job Requirements

• Meeting daily production targets whilst maintaining quality standards
• Ability to work a range of shifts
• NVQ 1 - Mechanical Engineering (desired not essential)
• Relevant safety certificates e.g., grinding wheel certification (desired not essential)
• Manual handling training may be appropriate in some areas

The Role

To support the Health, Safety & Environment (HS&E) system conducting routine activities and specialist projects as required. Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for establishing and maintaining EH&S procedures and standards.

• Responsible for conducting EH&S and Energy Conservation programs. Generate plans to reduce waste and emission levels as part of the annual planning
• process.
• Responsible for the timely and effective completion of all findings and corrective actions assigned to the post holder.
• To conduct any other reasonable activities as directed by line management.
• To act as focal point of engagement for customers and regulators for all matters pertaining to the planning and conducting of external audits designed to test continued compliance of the EHS System.
• All issues of concern are escalated to functional and site leadership for guidance and direction.

Job Requirements

• Minimum HNC or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
• Previous related experience in a health and safety role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• Must hold a minimum NEBOSH General Certificate, or IOSH training.
• Proven ability in using quality tools and techniques in relation to problem solving.
• Demonstrable proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Chartered status within a relevant professional accreditation (NEBOSH / CQI) or can demonstrate working towards it.
• Excellent communication skills, in a style that empathetically guides, supports and influences other employees and colleagues (written and oral), including report writing.
• Experience in maintaining and coordinating management system information, records, certification requirements and providing assurance of their continued effectiveness.
• Qualified Internal Auditor for ISO 14001 / 9001 and AS 9100-Lead Auditor desirable.
• Demonstrable capability to identify sustainable business improvements & ensure effective implementation.
