The Role

The administration assistant of the business is responsible of the smooth running of the admin tasks deemed necessary of the business. This position will manage all administration tasks and reports directly to the General Manager of the business unit.

The Role

Job Purpose:

Weekend Operator Inspector

The Role

To be trained to operate and inspect work from 3 or more machines for the manufacture of aero engine components.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and load components in fixture using correct datum faces
• When operating machines carry out work in line with appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company procedures
• When the machining cycle is complete, remove, clean, and inspect the part
• Maintain correct working order of the machine, by making appropriate adjustments to tooling and coolant flow as and when required
• Liaise with Inspection to check first off before starting full batch run
• Use appropriate hand tools to deburr work
• Visually Inspect and measure components to ensure compliance with specification
• Use optical, manual, electronic, digital gauges and tooling as supplied
• Calibrate and operate micro-PCRs (programmed measurement instruments) – in accordance with planning requirements
• Carry out inspections on other operators’ work – especially those not qualified to inspect their own work e.g., operators undergoing training
• Complete manual and PC based production records, recording components completed and identifying those not conforming to specification on “non-conformance notes”. Stamp “OK” or enter into the paperless manufacturing center (PLMC) Segregate non-conforming parts. Take completed batch to next operation
• Assist with training and mentoring of new team members, in line with individual competence
• Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition, report any problems to cell supervision, cell manufacturing support operative (MSO) and/or Maintenance
• Maintain machines in a running condition by changing consumables as required. e.g., cutters, grinding wheels and electrodes
• Hand finish components to planning requirements
• Demonstrate and promote in-cell standardisation by maintaining: health & safety, 6S, SOPs, daily check sheets, front line asset care, machine first off procedures and date calibration checks
• Book off work in accordance with all production and quality requirements.

The Role

To be trained to operate and inspect work from 3 or more machines for the manufacture of aero engine components.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and load components in fixture using correct datum faces
• When operating machines carry out work in line with appropriate standard operating procedures (SOPs) and company procedures
• When the machining cycle is complete, remove, clean, and inspect the part
• Maintain correct working order of the machine, by making appropriate adjustments to tooling and coolant flow as and when required
• Liaise with Inspection to check first off before starting full batch run
• Use appropriate hand tools to deburr work
• Visually Inspect and measure components to ensure compliance with specification
• Use optical, manual, electronic, digital gauges and tooling as supplied

Stamp “OK” or enter into the paperless manufacturing center (PLMC) Segregate non-conforming parts. Take completed batch to next operation
• Assist with training and mentoring of new team members, in line with individual competence
• Maintain work area in a clean and safe condition, report any problems to cell supervision, cell manufacturing support operative (MSO) and/or Maintenance
• Maintain machines in a running condition by changing consumables as required. e.g., cutters, grinding wheels and electrodes
• Hand finish components to planning requirements
• Demonstrate and promote in-cell standardisation by maintaining: health & safety, 6S, SOPs, daily check sheets, front line asset care, machine first off procedures and date calibration checks
• Book off work in accordance with all production and quality requirements.

Job Requirements

The Role

Working to support the company Metrology strategy, the Quality Assurance Inspector will work to ensure 1st off components and gauging meet specification and assist production in meeting the requirements of the customer.
Specifically, the purpose of the role is to control the accuracy of gauges, fixtures, and equipment, run the co-ordinate measuring machine / MPCR / Equator gauge or any other measurement equipment and to carry out any other inspection duties to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. To ensure 1st off components are to specification. Carry out regular inspection and maintenance of gauges, fixtures etc. and assist in the commissioning and asset care of mechanical and electronic gauges for production.

This position sits in our Newton Abbot, UK facility and will report to the Principal Quality Assurance Engineer (Metrology).

Key Responsibilities

• Run preprogramed software on any inspection equipment and carry out manual operations to shop requirements
• Inspect 1st off components from 1st principles using standard inspection equipment and compare results to the customer drawing and specifications
• Ensure components are inspected within the prescribed 1st off time frame and respond to cell calls and notices
• Inspect gauges. Fixtures, diamond rolls and electrodes and prepare inspection reports for items manufactured in tool room or by external sources. Participate in / complete and analyse gauge R&R as required
• Calibrate master components using standard inspection equipment complete master inspection sheets and calibration records
• Assist in the commissioning of mechanical and electronic gauges for production. Optimise any differences between inspection methods and master parts to provide calibration figures. Create calibration charts for gauge set up information and master calibration figures
• Carry out regular maintenance / asset care of mechanical and electronic gauges and make adjustments / repairs as required. Monitor wear patterns and recommend adjustments to calibration frequencies
• Liaise with relevant parties on gauge and fixture modifications to ensure required capabilities are achieved
• Carry out other duties compatible with this job and the individual skills of the jobholder(s), as required by management.

The Role
MB Aerospace Newton Abbot manufactures specialist precision components predominantly for the aerospace industry. The role will initially provide NDT Level 3 support to ensure all regulatory and customer requirements are met for Non-Destructive Testing processes in Penetrant and Magnetic Particle methods. Progression to Company Responsible Level 3 is expected after successfully completing an extended period of experience, training and development.

Key Responsibilities
• Training and examination of NDT personnel, ensuring their continued competence to conduct required NDT activities.
• Control and approval of NDT processes to ensure the production of compliant products.
• To ensure the appropriate NDT method is carried out and correctly sequenced within the manufacturing operation.
• Lead the business in preparation for NADCAP and customer audits across the NDT function.
• Act as Nadcap Special Process owner for NDT, Chemical Processing (CP) including pre-FPI Clean & Etch, and Anti-fret paint application. Ensure that all special processes and procedures are robust, fit for purpose and all equipment and tools in use are well maintained and correctly calibrated. Regularly assess Special Process functions for technical adequacy and implement improvements through inspections and structured audits.
• Participate in and oversee the completion of corrective action management processes in relation to NDT, CP and associated processes.
• Responsible for the ongoing review of NDT and CP specifications, standards, and internal documentation to ensure processes meet customer and regulatory requirements
• Maintain Level 2 certification for product acceptance as part of Level 3 duties.
• Conduct regular review of rejected parts against customer specifications and maintain/monitor inspector finding rates.
• Conduct NDT production inspections as required.

Job Requirements
• Certified NDT level 3
• At least 4 years proven experience at Level 2 in fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection techniques and certified to accept products as part of Level 3 duties in the aerospace sector.
• Minimum HNC Level or equivalent in a relevant Engineering / Technical discipline.
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including report writing.
• Demonstrable proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite of products.
• Ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands whilst meeting operational deadline requirements.
• Experience in engaging with multiple stakeholders.

Desirable:
• Experience of FMEA, PPAP and AS13000 suite of aerospace standards desirable
• Understanding of Lean / CI principles
• Associate or Practitioner of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), Member of the British Institute of NDT or can demonstrate working towards it
